The New Montreal University Health Centre, once it is complete in 2014, will be comprised of three campuses: the Mountain Campus (currently the site of the Montreal General Hospital and already undergoing redevelopment activities); the Lachine Campus (currently the site of the Lachine Hospital and the Camille Lefebvre Pavilion and also already undergoing redevelopment activities); and the 45,000 m2 Glen Campus, which will be constructed on land in the Côte-des-Neiges/Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough and the City of Westmount.
In July 2010, the financial closure and official signing of a partnership agreement between the MUHC and the McGill Health Infrastructure Group (MHIG) was announced by SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Under this 34-year public private partnership (PPP), the MHIG will design, build, finance and maintain the MUHC's new Glen Campus.
The Glen Campus will regroup the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Royal Victoria Hospital, the Montreal Chest Institute, a cancer centre, and the Research Institute of the MUHC in new state-of-the art facilities. This project is a welcome initiative given that many of the existing facilities were built a century ago or more and now lack a contemporary hospital approach and environment. The redevelopment of these historic and groundbreaking institutions will bring together the three aspects of care, teaching and research.
Pomerleau is a part of a consortium for the design and the construction of the project, including a research centre with clinical laboratories and a thermal power plant.
