In 2006, Pomerleau began bringing this four storey building up to modern standards after 100 years of use and changes.

To be precise, the Pomerleau team was responsible for:

  • gutting the building;
  • reconstructing the interior;
  • building betting rooms;
  • building a restaurant;
  • building snack bars;
  • replacing the mechanical and electrical systems in their entirety;
  • doing the full fit-up of the entire interior;
  • redoing the architectural finishes;
  • bringing the building up to standard;
  • modifying the structure in accordance with new architectural requirements;
  • constructing paddocks;
  • reshaping the race track.

The challenges included dealing with multiple change orders and making adjustments to the realities of the existing building.

The condition of the building posed an enormous challenge to the professionals who were constantly having to reevaluate the situation.

The client added many elements to the program, increasing the cost of the project. Thanks to the expertise of the Pomerleau team, however, the original scope of work was delivered under budget, thus keeping the final cost as close to the original budget as possible.
