Pomerleau met the challenge of delivering this huge new distribution centre in only six months.
Built on a 170,000 m² site that can accommodate two future expansion phases, this steel structure with Murox load-bearing exterior walls sits on a 8 " thick steel-fibre reinforced slab-on-grade with a non-metallic hardener and sealant.
The distribution centre is 26,000 m² and over 12 metres high. It has 43 manual bay doors with hydraulic loading docks, foam pads and hold-down hooks; conventional warehousing systems, push-back and drive-in, as well as a 2,000 m² storage mezzanine with a pick-up system; pharmaceuticals storage area with security vault and segregated aerosol storage area. It also accomodates a 1,500 m² administrative office area.
The trailer parking lot measures 32 000 m².
This was Pomerleau's second distribution centre project for the Jean Coutu Group. The first was for the enlargement of the Longueuil Centre in 1996.
