Pomerleau transformed the historic Le Capitole Theatre building into a modern multifunctional centre while retaining its 1920's spirit. It now hosts many different types of events and the seating is easily arranged into show, cabaret, banquet, cocktail, or classroom configurations. This unique and innovative design has created a venue that appeals to a diverse clientele in the corporate, private and entertainment events markets.
This 1,400-seat theatre is famous for the exceptional quality of its acoustics and its Art-Deco style. Pomerleau restored the stained glass windows, architectural mouldings and decorative elements as well as the distinctive gilding, paying meticulous attention to maintaining the theatre's original cachet and acoustics.
In addition to the above work, Pomerleau built a new entrance foyer, renovated the unused basement area into attractive rental spaces, and installed an efficient modern electromechanical system (plumbing, heating, electricity, ventilation, etc.).
Pomerleau completed its mandate by adding a television studio, a charming four-storey annex housing offices and a small hotel featuring 40 luxurious rooms and suites, a restaurant with a summertime sidewalk café terrace facing historic St-Jean Street, an exterior garden and boutiques.
