At the Palace Convention Centre in Laval on October 29, 2015, as part of the 17th edition of the Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction, Pomerleau was named winner in the "Bridge Projects" category for the Des Allumettes Bridge project.
The competition, organized by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, aims to highlight the exceptional work of industry professionals who use steel to advantage for its durability and its appearance.
The project involved the replacement of the Des Allumettes Bridge spanning the main channel of the Ottawa River southeast of Pembroke, Ontario, and connecting the provinces of Ontario and Quebec through the city of Isle-aux-Allumettes.
Pomerleau was general contractor for this highway bridge which spans 280 metres. The project was completed in 2015, despite a very tight initial schedule.
